A pair of works honoring the memory of Sean Bell (murdered by NYPD officers on the day of his wedding) and the strength of his widow, Nicole Paultre-Bell. One is a floor collage of a repeated print of the Bell family. The work's elements (silk, lace, candles and intentional floral reference) attempt to convey the tension between the celebration of weddings and the grief of funerals. The other merges an image of Paultre-Bell into the supporting arms of a silhouetted imaged of rank and file Black Panther members, reflecting on community engagement and collective love.
